call out -> announce in a loud voice, order to come to sb’s help.

call up -> phone, call for military service.

CARRY

carry away -> cause sb to lose self-control, be very excited

carry off -> win sth (prize), handle successfully.

carry on (with) -> behave strangely, continue

carry on with -> continue, have an affair

carry out -> complete, execute

carry through -> accomplish, complete successfully.

cut across -> take a shorter way

cut back (on) -> reduce (expenses, production)

cut away ->remove by cutting

cut down ->fell (a tree), kill/injure sb with a sword

cut down on reduce the amount or quantity of sth

cut in or into ->interrupt

cut off ->disconnect, isolate

cut out ->extract, omit, stop,

cut out for/to be ->suited for a job

cut up ->divide sth into pieces with a knife, distress

DO

do away with -> get rid of/abolish, kill/murder

do down ->cheat, speak badly of

do for ->do housework for sb, ruin

do in ->kill/murder

do up -> fasten/button, redecorate; make a parcel
