Simple present    
 he goes - does he go ? - he doesn't go
 
Present continuous
 he is going - is he going ? - he isn't going
 
Simple future     
 he will go - will he go ? - he won't go
 
Going to Future   
 he is going to go - is he going to go? - he isn't going to go
 
Simple past       
 he was - was he ? - he wasn't
 he went - did he go ? - he didn't go
 
Present perfect   
 he has gone - has he gone ? - he hasn't gone
 
Modal Verbs
 I must          - must I ?           - I mustn't
 I can           - can I ?              - I can't
 I have got      - have I got ?   - I haven't got
 
Examples :
Do you want to dance ? No, I don’t.
Is Jane riding her bike ? Yes, she is.
Will they come tomorrow ? No, they won’t.
Are you going to call them ? Yes, I am.
What did you do yesterday. Nothing, I stayed at home.
Where were you? I was studying.
Have you done your homework ? Yes, I have.
Must you leave ? Yes, I must.
Can you be there ? Yes, I can.
Have you got any money ? No, I haven’t.
 
 
 
 
2. Simple past     -> He went - Did he go? - He didn't go.
  Past continuous -> I was + ver + ing  -> I was going
 
I was going      was I going ?      I was not going
You were going   were you going ?   you were not going
He was going     was he going ?     he was not going
She was going    was she going ?    she was not going
It was going     was it going ?     It was not going
We were going    were we going ?    we were not going
You were going   were you going ?   you were not going
They were going  were they going ?  they were not going
 
was not -> wasn't - were not -> weren't
 
Examples :
 he was watching TV at 5 o'clock
 my mother was cooking while I was studying.
 I was walking down the street when I saw her.
 What was she doing at 3 o’clock ? She was sleeping.
 As Tim was riding his bike, he had an accident.
 They were working all day yesterday.
 When I was jogging , I broke my leg.
 
 
With the adverbs:
  -> while, as, when, all day, all night, etc.
 
  -> As he was walking, he saw your sister.
  -> when Mary was having a bath, the phone rang.
  -> While I was working, he was playing.
  -> my father was working all day.
 
 
3. Preposition or Not ?
----------------------------
 
With Prepositions:
off, of, at, after, to, on, under, for, in, about, with, from.
 
Afraid of      -> I'm afraid of dogs.
Afraid to      -> I'm afraid to go there.
Arrive at      -> at home, at school, etc.
Arrive in      -> In Athens, In Greece, In Africa, etc.
Ask for        -> I asked for a pen.
belong to      -> this pen belongs to me.
by             -> by train, by plane, by bus BUT -> on foot
Ask about      -> she asked about you.
Come from      -> I come from Greece.
Come to        -> come to my house.
Get to         -> I got to the office
               -> I got home, I got here/there.
Go to          -> go to school, BUT -> go home.
Good at        -> he's good at maths.
Good to        -> Se's good to me.
Good for       -> It's good for your health.
Leave for      -> I left for Paris.
Listen to      -> Listen to me !
Look at        -> look at Mary !
Look for       -> I'm looking for Bob.
Look after     -> look after your old father.
Speak to       -> speak to your mother.
Speak about    -> He spoke about it.
Stand at       -> stand at the window.
Take care of   -> take care of yourself.
Talk to/about  -> talk to me, talk about it.
Thank for      -> thank you for coming.
Turn on/off    -> Turn on/off the light.
 
Without Prepositions

Behind  -> the tree is behind the house.
Enter   -> he entered the house.
Leave   -> she left home at 8 o'clock.
Like    -> I like apples.
Near    -> near the school.
Obey    -> I obey my father.
Promise -> Ι promise you.
Reach   -> he reached home at 6 o'clock.
Round   -> round the house.
Tell    -> tell me about it.
Under   -> the cat is under the table.
